5 Fun Fall Activities for Kids

Who doesn’t get excited when the leaves start changing and that chill is in the air? Fall is one of the best times of the year! Get inspired this season to craft with your kids. Here are a few fun fall activities for kids and the whole family!

1. Stained Glass Leaves

Have the kids go outside and gather colorful leaves they like. Then, using wax paper, crayon shavings and an iron, help them to create stained glass masterpieces! (The iron should only be used by parents, and don’t leave kids unattended.)

2. Make a Halloween Costume

Next month is already Halloween! Challenge your kids to make their own costumes this year. If you start early enough, you’ll have enough time to create something unique and awesome. Plus, homemade costumes are often way more affordable than store-bought.

3. Go Leaf Peeping

Bundle up the family and hit the road to see some colorful views. Colorado is one of the prettiest states in the fall, so be sure to bring a camera! Pack a lunch and blanket to have a picturesque picnic everyone will enjoy.

4. Make a Scarecrow

Using old clothes and crumpled up newspaper, make a scarecrow to display on your front porch. For the head, use a plastic pumpkin or let the kids decorate a paper bag with googly eyes, glitter glue or paint.

5. Go Apple Picking

There are plenty of great orchards to visit in Colorado in the fall. Take the kids to an apple orchard and let them pick their own apples. Most orchards also do fun events in the fall, like hayrides, crafts, and live music.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to autumn fun. We hope this gives you some inspiration for after-school or weekend activities. For more great ideas, check out Pinterest, visit your local craft store, or check the newspaper for events.
